John’s Background

John launched his career in the early 1990s in Buffalo, New York where he was lucky enough to work at a firm alongside highly seasoned surveying veterans who mentored him on the true fundamentals of the profession. He spent much of his time in the field and learned just as much there as he did in the classroom, if not more.

John moved to Denver, Colorado in 1996 and continued his career. In 2006, he earned his professional land surveying license (PLS) and was promoted to Survey Manager at his firm. He managed project managers, multiple survey field crews and technical staff. In 2011, he was recruited as the Director of Survey by a multi-discipline engineering and land surveying firm that recognized his talents. He successfully built their Colorado practice and held full P&L accountability. He managed business strategy, operations, business development, financials, talent acquisition, procedural standards and more. His advancement from the field to senior management was an invaluable learning experience, but he eventually yearned to return to being more hands-on with clients and missed working in the field.

John’s long-term vision was owning his own firm. In 2015, he followed his dream and launched Arrow Point Surveying. His rare combination of technical surveying and business management skills have fueled the company’s rapid growth. But regardless of growth, he ensures that every project is managed under the wing of his master-level experience.

John graduated from the New York State Ranger School where he studied Forestry and Land Surveying. He currently lives in Denver, Colorado. In his spare time, you can find him out in nature or pursuing his second passion: bowhunting.
